The Mystery of Life

The Mystery of Life

And as we have borne the image of the earthy,
we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Cor.15:49

Life is a mystery: Science can determine neither its origin nor its ultimate destination. We know that it inhabits certain kinds of substances for a while, then it departs and the substance turns to dust.

The current search for life on other planets intrigues us. We wonder if, in all the starry host of heaven, life is to be found only on this one infinitesimal speck of dust we call earth. Also, if life is only a product of chance, as some insist, why are there so many forms of life and varying degrees of intelligence concentrated in the peculiar atmosphere of a single planet?

Satisfactory answers to all our questions about life are found only in Scripture. If, as the Bible tells us, the heavens were made to declare the reality and the glory of an eternal Creator to a lost but intelligent creation, then it all begins to make sense.

Any scientifically honest consideration of the mystery of life, the beauty and order of the universe, and the wonder of our adventure must conclude that there is a cause, an intelligence, and a power only the God of the Bible can fulfill. To say that it all occurred by chance and ends without purpose is a ludicrous philosophy. Life was created for a magnificent and eternal purpose.

Where shall we look for the answer to all these things? Is there not a supernatural Book? … The Bible!
